Angelina Jolie talked about having chickenpox while chatting with Today’s Al Roker on Friday, Jan. 2. While discussing “Unbroken”, Roker brought up the subject of when she caught the contagious condition.
Jolie said, “It was so absurd” and added, “What was even stranger, during the day before, I was doing interviews, and I was like, ‘what is happening?!'”
She also shared that husband Brad Pitt and their children were keen on helping her promote the film. She stated, “It was really fun that my kids took the mantle. They took it very seriously when I said, ‘You’ve got to represent mom.'”
Pitt, 51, and their children Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, 8, attended the “Unbroken” premiere in Los Angeles on Dec. 15.
“Unbroken” stars Jack O’Connell, whom Jolie has praised. He plays an Olympic runner named Louis Zamperini who was tortured in a Japanese POW camp. The movie didn’t get any Golden Globe nominations but did land four Critics’ Choice Award noms from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, including ones for picture and director Jolie.
Angelina Jolie went from talking chickenpox on “Today” to mentioning her latest project, “By the Sea.” Jolie is the writer, actress and director.
On directing Pitt, who is also in the movie, Jolie says, “As a director, you want to help your actor; as a wife, you really want to help your husband. So you want everything to be right for them. But there’s something we found which is if you work with the person you love and trust most in this world, it’s pretty great.”
During the taped interview she admitted her weak talent is cooking.
“I’m one of those people, I can learn this random exotic meal … a really interesting Afghan dish with eggplant,” she said, “but I don’t know how to make basic spaghetti.”
When asked about the Sony hacking incident Jolie politely declined to comment. Roker told his co-hosts, “She didn’t want to get into that. We moved on.”
Obviously for Angelina Jolie, chickenpox was a more comfortable subject to talk about.
