Real estate mogul Donald Trump is considering a 2016 presidential bid. Sure, he said the same thing for the 2012 election but apparently, he’s seriously contemplating it this time around.
Trump, who is estimated to be worth $4 billion, has hinted a presidential run during interviews for both Fox and MSNBC news. During an appearance with Fox and Friends, when pressed by host Steve Doocy whether he would run, Trump gave the following reply:
“Well, I may surprise a lot of people,”
When Trump appeared on a segment for MSNBC’s Morning Joe just an hour later, the same question was asked by host Joe Scarborough, to which Trump replied:
“I would say over the next three months.”
Back in 2011, Trump became a headline magnet after announcing that he was seriously considering a stab at the presidency. He widely criticized President Obama as an incompetent and ineffective leader. Trump also caused controversy and was accused of racism after he suggested that Obama was born in Kenya and therefore should not have been eligible for commander-in-chief.
Most recently, Trump did an interview with New York City radio and announced that he has already made plans to speak at a number of events located in key primary states.
When asked by host John Catsimatidis what issues he would focus on for 2016, Donald Trump brought up the alarming unemployment rate, which he suggests is really at a staggering 20%. He also discussed the recent terror attack in Paris and made chilling predictions that Charlie Hebdo-like attacks will likely increase in the near future with some of those taking place in the U.S.
If Donald Trump runs for 2016, he faces a competitive GOP primary. It is very likely that Jeb Bush is throwing his hat into the race. Likewise, Mitt Romney also hinted at a third presidential bid. Other Republicans possibly in the running include: Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul.
