The Duke Blue Devils were upset by an unranked NC State team, and have lost their first game of the season. The NC State Wolfpack has been known to upset their fellow rivals before, and have done it yet again.
Duke was 14-0 heading into the game against NC State, and with a win, they would have remained in first place, which now belongs to Virginia, who survived a scare yesterday against Notre Dame, and Syracuse, who will play Florida State later tonight.
The game is a big upset for Duke, and an important win for NC State, who is now 3-1 in the conference. The game ended wtih a final score of 87-75, and Trevor Lacey led the Wolfpack with 21 points.
Prior to the upset, the Duke Blue Devils were one of the three remaining unbeaten teams that were left in college basketball. After the loss, the only unbeaten teams are Kentucky and Virginia, who both made it out of close games on Saturday.

NC State ran a double team against Duke’s star Jahlil Okafor for much of the game, but that did little to deter him from having a big performance. The big man finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds, although as a team, Duke shot 37 percent and had their defense dismantled throughout the game.
The Wolfpack had a 19 point lead at one point, and was simply too much for Duke to compete with. Is NC State simply Duke’s kryptonite, or did they expose a weakness that other teams will be able to take advantage of?
The Duke Blue Devils also had the best 3-pt FG percent defense among major conference teams heading into the game against NC State, although the Wolfpack connected on 10-of-16 3-pt FG (62.5%) in the win over the Blue Devils.
Following their upset at NC State, the Duke Blue Devils will travel to Miami in order to play a team that is currently 11-4 on the season, and 1-1 in the conference. NC State will face their third ranked opponent in a row when they host No.18 North Carolina on Wednesday, and the Tar Heels are coming off of a big win against Louisville.
