ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton Accidentally Tweets Porn Link

Oops! ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton suffered a pretty major copy-and-paste accident today, when, instead of an ESPN link, he tweeted a link to a porn site. Hamilton has since deleted the original tweet and replaced it with the corrected link, but his followers aren’t letting it go that easily.

Hamilton tweeted about Roquan Smith, a football player who is currently visiting colleges and is undecided about where he’ll play, sharing information about the visits Smith has scheduled. However, it seems that the ESPN writer was too quick in his clicks — instead of pasting in an ESPN link, he linked to a video on PornHub.

ESPN's Gerry Hamilton had a copy-and-paste error.

Hamilton deleted the tweet, and replaced it with a new one, bearing the same information and a corrected link. He was not quite fast enough to do so though — numerous followers saw the original tweet, and they aren’t letting it go so easily.

The link now goes to ESPN’s page outlining Roquan Smith’s school visiting schedule — listing which schools have invited him to play football, which he’s visited, and which he’s scheduled. Clearly this is the link that was intended on Hamilton’s first try.

Neither ESPN nor Gerry Hamilton has made any official statement about the error yet, but his followers are giving him a good ribbing for being too distracted while tweeting to copy the correct link.

Of course, ESPN may have pulled Hamilton off of Twitter for a chat before moving forward with any statement, and Hamilton may find himself suspended from tweeting for a period of time. ESPN has suspended employees from tweeting for far less, after all. Some followers are expressing concern for the sports writer’s employment. Still, he’s drawn plenty of attention to the network today, so perhaps ESPN will simply remind Gerry Hamilton not to multitask while he’s on the job.
