The FIFA Ballon D’Or goes to Cristiano Ronaldo yet again. He has been one of the stars of professional soccer for several years now, and has now received the FIFA Ballon D’Or for the third time.
The FIFA Ballon D’Or is awarded to the top player in FIFA each year, and it is the most prestigious award that someone can receive in the sport of soccer. In addition to Ronaldo winning the award for his play on the field in 2014, he also won the award in 2013 and 2008.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a forward for Real Madrid, and plays internationally for the country of Portugal. However, his contract with Real Madrid expires in 2018, and it has been rumored that he could be joining the MLS.
It is perhaps not a huge surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo won the FIFA Ballon D’Or again. This year, he beat out fellow top goal scorer Lionel Messi who plays for FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for the award.

His teammate on Real Madrid, James Rodriguez, received the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal of the year, which he was given for his volley strike for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo was given the award due to his contribution in helping Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League in May of 2014, as well as his work with Portugal in the World Cup over the summer.
2014 marked the the 10th time that Real Madrid had won the UEFA Champions League, and in winning the tournament, Ronaldo also scored the single-tournament scoring record.
In addition to the recent Ballon D’Or award, Cristiano Ronaldo was also named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI. He scored 26 times in 15 La Liga matches and 33 times in 26 games across all competitions in the 2014/15 season.
