Five Things To Do In January To Improve Your Business Website

Five Things To Do In January To Improve Your Business Website image January 300x300.pngAt the start of the New Year, it’s always good to take inventory of your business website, checking for changes and improvements that need to be made. Here are five things to do in January:

1. Look for and update old content

Is your website content up to date? Does it list products and services you no longer offer? Is the About Us page current, with the right employees and contact information?

Take a few minutes to review the content of your website for any changes that need to be made, and update them right away.

Nothing says “I don’t care” to a customer like outdated content!

2. Links

When was the last time you reviewed your website and clicked on all the links to be sure they’re working? It’s better that you do this than have a customer come to you and tell you – or worse yet click on a link that is broken and never return.

3. Update your blog content

Another area of a business website that can be overlooked is the company’s blog. Out of date or old content can turn customers off and reflect poorly on the business.

Having difficulty creating content? Consider co-marketing with another company and sharing content. Check out our article on blogging on other websites and the BoostSuite Article Exchange here to get some great tips.

4. Social media presence

If you include your social media channels – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn Company Page – on your website, are the links going to the right place?

Do you have content on these sites that are representative of your company? Are you current and active in the social media channel?

Make sure that what you say about your company in social media is what you say on your website – and vice versa.

5. Navigation

Finally take the time in early January to review all of your site’s navigation. Can the user get from one section to the other easily without a lot of “back button” clicking? Is it easy to see where sections are located? Take this “tour” from a user’s perspective and fix any issues that make the site difficult to navigate.

By doing these five simple steps you can improve your website, attract more customers, and more importantly, have them stay on your site longer.
