John Fox Hired As Head Coach Of Chicago Bears

John Fox is the new coach of the Chicago Bears. He was hired just days after parting ways with the Denver Broncos and will look to improve the struggling Bears.

In the first year that Marc Trestman was hired, the Bears went 8-8, and have been on a downward skid since. The Bears play in a division that is getting tougher each year with the Packers looking to go to the Super Bowl, and the Lions who were also in the playoffs.

The Bears have missed out on the playoffs for the past four years, and in addition to Trestman, general manager Phil Emery was also fired December 29th.

John Fox and the Chicago Bears agreed to a four-year deal shortly after departing a Denver Broncos team that he had great success with. He had a record of 46-18 over four seasons with the Broncos, and led them to the Super Bowl last year.

Fox is one of only six coaches to lead two different teams to the Super Bowl. Prior to coaching the Broncos, he spent nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers, where he led them to their only Super Bowl.

Former Panthers GM spoke about coach Fox when saying “He’s a people person. He has the ability to work with people. He knows what he wants. But he knows it’s a ‘we’ game, not a ‘me’ game.”

The veteran coach will inherit an offense that is filled with talent, but has been underachieving in recent years. Matt Forte set the NFL record in receptions and finished third in yards from scrimmage, while Alshon Jeffrey went over 1,000 yards in receiving for the second year in a row, and Martellus Bennett set a franchise record for receptions by a tight end.

John Fox will join the Chicago Bears and hope to improve the team on the defensive end, and make them a contender in the NFC North again. Does he have what it takes to make them competitive with the Packers and Lions again?
