A shooting disrupted a Chris Brown performance at a San Jose nightclub. There isn’t a whole lot of details other than that Brown was uninjured. Five other people, unfortunately, weren’t so lucky and have been taken to the hospital.
According to Mercury News, Brown was performing at the Fiesta nightclub for a birthday party when shots were fired. When police arrived, four people had to be treated; a fifth person later admitted himself to the hospital. The severity of those injuries is unclear, though all five shooting victims are expected to survive. Police also detained several people at the scene but no arrests have been made.
A video of the Chris Brown nightclub shooting has also surfaced. It shows the singer performing on stage with several of his entourage. The crowd can be seen dancing and singing along in unison, and all appeared to be well until around the one minute mark. At that point, the crowd’s attention diverts to the right to what appears to be an altercation taking place, which was soon followed by a quick succession of what sounded like gunfire. The crowd then begins to react in panic and several immediately flee the premise while others ducked for cover. The music is cut shortly after and Brown is promptly ushered off stage.
A second video has also been uploaded showing the aftermath of the shooting. The nightclub can be seen in total disarray while a fire alarm sounds off in the background. The crowd can also be seen dispersed with some squatting next to the counters while others walk around the premise in apparent confusion. Trash and toppled chairs and waste bins litter the nightclub that minutes earlier have been the center of a festivity.
After the shooting, Chris Brown sent the tweet “I’m 100,” letting his fans know that he’s okay. A spokesman for the rapper has also said that the shooting was unrelated to Brown and that he will cooperate fully with law enforcement. While the gig was a small local event, it served as a promo for an American tour scheduled for Jan. 27 in Hampton, Virginia.
