Taylor Swift Gives $1,989 Check To Superfan For Student Loans

Taylor Swift gave a $1,989 check to one of her fans to help her pay for student loans. The fan, Rebekah Bortniker, shared her story on Tumblr and uploaded a video to YouTube on Monday.

Even though Swiftmas is over, the pop star still sent a special and loyal fan some presents. Bortniker grabbed Swift’s attention by uploading a video on Tumblr that she created. The video stars Taylor Swift and her celebrity friends with the format of the introduction to the TV show Friends.

To thank her creative fan, Swift sent a FedEx package to her door full of thoughtful presents. Rebekah Bortniker received a long handwritten letter, a handpainted picture, Polaroids of Swift, a pillow, and a homemade necklace.

Taylor Swift also sent a $1,989 check to her fan to help her get closer to paying off her student loans.

The letter Swift wrote to Rebekah read: “Hi you, I was thinking about you today, and how you have been there cheering me on in the most thoughtful and creative ways.”

Swift also told Rebekah how beautiful and positive she was, so she wanted to make her fan something she would hopefully like.

Needless to say, Rebekah Bortniker had an emotional response. After opening all the gifts, she cried and continually thanked Swift in the video she uploaded to YouTube.

Bortniker posted on her Tumblr, “Taylor, you are the most amazing person. I can’t believe you did this for me, I can’t believe this is my life right now. Thank you, I could say it a million times and it wouldn’t be enough. I love you.”

Taylor Swift’s $1,989 check isn’t a random amount. Besides the year she was born, 1989 is Swift’s fifth studio album that was released this year. 1989 was 2014’s best-selling album and ranked number 1 for the year by Billboard.
