As if traveling isn’t stressful enough, between fees going higher and amenities being taken away, one airline is about to make things even more complicated for passengers. British Airways announced that they will no longer provide two meals to economy passengers on flights under eight and a half hours.
Premium economy passengers on a flight of less than seven hours will also be affected, according to The Independent. “Instead of two full meals passengers will get only one and might have to make do with snacks if they get hungrier later in the flight. The choices of alcohol and complimentary snacks will not be affected,” a British Airways spokesperson said in the article. A spokesperson added, “We regularly review our catering to ensure we are investing where it matters most to our customers.”
Instead of receiving a second full meal on long-haul flights, passengers will get one fun-size candy bar (like the kind you give out at Halloween). This penny-pinching measure has not sat well with some travelers and many have expressed their discontent on social media, while others have taken a more laid-back approach.
Meh. Who needs it anyway? https://t.co/ZmECbKZGQV

Providing the fares are good value, I don't see a problem with these changes.! #avgeek #PaxEx https://t.co/SLWcFEidG4

What a pity BA is engaging in the same idiotic race-to-the-bottom as other airlines. https://t.co/AMe0a9lp4Z

@British_Airways as a regular BA flyer I am disappointed. Your profits are good, yet you have old planes, poor entertainment, now poor food.

Another good reason to avoid @British_Airways although given the quality of the food you wouldn't miss much! https://t.co/tq6AcT7KtV
