Beer Blizzard beats the heat by keeping beverages cool with one simple “ice cube.” The plastic disc is frozen, inserted into the bottom of a koozie and then chills any beverage. The founders explained to the sharks earlier this year that with an insulator and Beer Blizzard, a can of beer or soda can stay cold for 21 minutes.
When they originally appeared on “Shark Tank,” Robb and Osborne came in asking for a $100,000 investment for 20 percent equity. The sharks’ initial round of feedback included putting beer companies’ names on the cubes, as well as narrowing down their focus. They earned offers from both Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner, but ultimately accepted Cuban’s deal of $100,000 for 25 percent.
Where Is Beer Blizzard Now?
The Beer Blizzard has seen much success since they made their debut on Kickstarter in April 2014, funding their original fundraising goal in less than one week and ultimately raising more than $40,000. They recently debuted an army man bottle opener on their site and have met many of their goals. After the “Shark Tank” episode debuted, online sales skyrocketed and the discs landed in Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and other retail stores.
They also are in the process of securing a licensing deal with NASCAR race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., which would allow for Earnhardt’s name, car number and logos to be used on the Beer Blizzard ice cubes, Robb told Forbes. According to 2paragraphs, Robb and Osborne are currently in the stages of securing their final goal, which is to get their product into a brewery. Wherever they end up, Robb said it won’t be a craft beer brewery, but rather somewhere that falls more in line with the “real beer” that he drinks.
