10 Steps for Marketing Better

Here it is — 10 quick and easy steps for marketing better right now with minimal effort. This list is far from comprehensive, of course, so stay tuned for more quick lists and ideas for boosting your content and social marketing strategies. Have anything to add? We’re willing to listen.

1. Make sure everything you publish (social media, blogs, and otherwise) has intent. Don’t just push things into follower newsfeeds unless it has purpose and actually adds to what you’re trying to accomplish.

2. Set a goal early on. This bounces off #1: Content and media needs to reinforce the goal-seeking strategy. Don’t have a goal? You may try, “Increase website traffic and Facebook followers.”

3. Invest in quality online assets and designers who know what they’re doing. A shoddy website and cluttered Facebook page make you look unprofessional, a terrifying reality for businesses.

4. Consistency is key. Keep up whatever strategy you have, no matter how relaxed, and experiment by adding more when you have the time. Don’t fix something that already works!

5. Do some simple Google research and see what competitors are doing. Also, check up on content marketing blogs and other websites dedicated to social media to read what the experts say. Knowledge is power, right?

6. You can never have too many pictures, infographics, and visuals. Use these tools to make your posts pop off of newsfeeds. Colorful pictures also give bored readers something to look at. It’s a win-win.

7. Don’t publish a blog or post because you feel like you have to. This leads to low-quality content. Trust us: People hate bad writing and forced posts. If you’re not proud of it, find something else.

8. Be careful when jumping into new territory (like adding an Instagram account or starting another blog site). It’s easy to become overwhelmed. Busy marketers become sloppy marketers.

9. Keep track of what works and what doesn’t. By doing so, you can create content off of analytics and what people enjoy seeing/responding to.

10. Ask for help.
