Parks and Recreation is in its final season. Unfortunately, the comedy’s co-executive producer Harris Wittels recently was found dead at age 30 in his Los Angeles apartment. Police believe the cause of death was a drug overdose, according to EOnline.
Parks and Recreation actor and comedian Aziz Ansari now has opened up about what he called the “devastating” loss of Wittels with a very touching and moving, 2,800-word tribute. In a Facebook message, the site reported that Ansari called Wittels his “friend, colleague & hero.” and linked to his tribute, which he published on his Tumblr blog.
“There are so few people that you meet in life that give you that feeling that you’ve found a real unique, original person,” Ansari wrote. “Harris Wittels was one of those and we lost him yesterday. He was 30 years old. I’ve been devastated.”
“I’m still waiting for the other phone call to let me know that Harris is okay and this was all a horrible misunderstanding,” he said. “I don’t know when my brain is going to be able to process the terrible feeling that fills my heart with dread and my eyes with tears every 20 seconds when I realize this very special person is really gone.”
I miss him so much. I hope reading these stories will help you get why everyone is so devastated about his passing: http://t.co/M7eW05V4Ae

Wittels played the animal control guy on Parks.
The Huffington Post commented that Ansari reflected on his favorite memories and jokes with Wittels, who he was collaborating with on two unfinished film scripts. Ansari further wrote that he always pursued jobs outside of Parks with Wittels,” including the time he hosted the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
