With majority of the marketing world raving about video, it’s easy to see why so a large number of big brands are investing a lot of their marketing budgets in them.
Social media is a form marketing that a selection of brands steer clear of because of the time management, lack of return on investment and genuine misunderstanding of what it can bring to the company. But, when social media marketing is done correctly and is targeted at the right audience, it can really work.
Social media advertising is a platform that continues to grow and can be useful in gaining new followers, stealing customers from the competition and promoting a new product or service. But, smaller companies don’t have endless budgets like big brands, so how do they grow a captive audience on social media that doesn’t use up their entire budget?
The answer … Video.
As social media and technology become more and more advanced, people are spending less time reading and more time absorbing visual material like imagery and video.
In fact, Vine has built up a huge social network around video and Instagram has done the same with imagery. Short videos that are funny or to the point will get shared much more than a video lasting around 10 minutes because people lose interest. This is what has made Vine so popular.
For Facebook and Twitter, videos can be much longer but it is always advisable to aim to produce videos between 30 seconds and three minutes. This the perfect length for explainer videos or question and answer-type videos and these videos are extremely helpful for the user too.
Videos do not have to be entirely sales-based; in fact, the videos that do better are the ones that are useful to the customer and aren’t just aimed at the ‘hard sell’.
Social media is a great way to target specific audiences and video is a great way to do that. You can either opt to invest in professional video production or you can simply make a video from your office using your smartphone, which makes creating videos such a flexible tool. Of course, too many videos is overkill, but all it takes is for a few people to like and share your video and your hard work pays off.
Social media doesn’t have to be a headache. Make videos and see your customer base improve.
