Decapitated Woman Found Outside Florida Home, Suspect In Custody

A Florida man named Christian Jose Gomez, 23, was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder when the police found a battered and decapitated woman outside his Oldsmar home. Investigators arrived on the scene around 7:30 last night in response to reports of a deceased female with obvious signs of trauma outside the residence.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was declared to be blunt force trauma, though deputies confirm that the young woman had also been decapitated. Though Gomez was no longer on the scene when law enforcement arrived, he was arrested a few blocks away shortly after the investigation began.

At this time, no possible motives for the crime have been released, though the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release more details Thursday afternoon. In the past Gomez has been arrested and charged with crimes such as loitering and prowling, resisting an officer, and disorderly conduct.
