Ready or Not, The New Year is Here! Is Your Website Ready?

Ready or Not, The New Year is Here! Is Your Website Ready? image NewYearWebsitev2Happy New Year and welcome to 2014! Whether or not you’re ready to dive into a new year, you want to make sure your website is! This doesn’t mean a complete redesign/reformat, but you want to make sure your website is still exciting and successful! Whoever your marketing towards – customers, vendors, etc. – you want to make sure your brand looks ready for the New Year!

To ensure your website is ready to tackle 2014 here are few tips that are quick and easy, but can really make a difference:

1. Replace all home page photos

This is a good idea to refresh these monthly or quarterly, but necessary to do yearly. You would be surprised at what a new photo will do to your website! It will draw more attention and make users think you have a new product or it can just plain spice it up! A boring and drab website doesn’t draw any attention so it can be hard to attract new followers or customers.

2. Update company and team pages

These pages often get overlooked after the first initial launch, but you want to make sure these pages are reviewed at least yearly. Update these pages with the company information and new photos including any new team members! Again, photos say a thousand words, so make sure these photos represent your company and team.

3. Read and Review

You may wonder why “Reviewing your website” is a step in this blog. However, you may be surprised at what you may find: spelling errors, broken links or outdated information (including any holiday remnants such as promotions, coupons, graphics, etc.). When launching a website, some of these minor details can often be overlooked. It is always good to go back read and test out the links to make sure nothing has broken from the initial launch or update.

4. Check your dates and years

Areas such as your website’s footer, or years in the industry are often found on websites. Make sure everything is updated to reflect the change to the New Year. Most content management systems will do this automatically, but you never want to assume. Your blog is another area that may need some restructuring to include the New Year. Everyone’s website is different; just make sure it is updated.

5. Make a resolution

Not all website updates can be done in a quick and timely manner. This is a great time to make a yearly plan or website resolution of everything you want to accomplish. Whether your 2014 plan includes a complete website redesign or maybe your company is planning a new product launch. This is a great time to write all of your ideas out and work with your team to get these bigger website goals accomplished.

These are just a few simple steps to help you move into the New Year. Make sure not to wait too long as before we know it spring will be here and we will be working on spring cleaning your website! Don’t worry; we have about few months until that time is upon us!
