Colleges With The Highest Admission Yield Rates

During college admission season, prospective students spend hours staring at the mailbox, anxiously awaiting envelopes from their top schools. Once those letters are received, though, the tables suddenly turn — now it’s the universities’ turn to wait for responses to trickle in.

Among the main goals for any college admission staff is to have a high yield rate — meaning a high percentage of accepted students actually choose to enroll at the university. A high admission yield rate is an indication that a school is more desirable compared to other colleges of a similar caliber.

With this in mind, StartClass found the 25 colleges with the highest admission yield rates using the most recent data from the National Center for Education Statistics. For this list, we excluded colleges with fewer than 5,000 undergraduate students, for-profit universities and schools located in Puerto Rico. Data is from the 2014-15 academic year.

Unsurprisingly, several Ivy League schools made the cut, including Harvard, Yale and Princeton, though none of them occupied the top spot on the list.

Note: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide was originally in the top 25 with an admission yield rate of 60.62 percent. We excluded the school from the list because we could not verify the accuracy of the information it reported to the NCES.
