Is updating your Profile Content a part of your content marketing process?
Updating your profile information for your business or yourself, might need to be an item on your to-do list. Profile information is looked at much closer these days because of the trend of “Big Data” and looking at content from an author standpoint. Here are some places to look at your profile information to see if it needs to be updated or not.
In your Linkedin Settings, you can set it up to send a message to your contacts when you change your profile information. Linkedin sends a message to all of your contacts as a status update. This process helps keep your profile alive with your contacts. In addition, by having your birth date on your profile, Linkedin will send this information to your contacts.
Are you aware, that you can add url links on your Twitter Profile? This can help direct people to specific sites like your blog site, company site or Linkedin Profile.
GOOGLE | GOOGLE PLUS
Google introduced Google Authorship in 2013. Google wants to make sure content is tied to a direct contact. If you produce content through a personal blog or your company blog, it is imperative that you be aware of your profile and treat your content like its own website. Many companies submit their site to Google for indexing. Google Authorship takes this a step further by linking your content with your Google Profile on Google Plus.
SUMMARY
I know there are other social media sites that look at profile information. I selected these sites because I come in contact with them the most. Don’t neglect your profile information and make sure you are updating the information on a regular basis. People want to see change and be connected to people who are learning more and progressing more in their businesses.
I have been reading a lot of articles about SEO being dead. This topic is debatable, but the important thing to remember is there a number of ways to help increase traffic to your site and updating content on a regular basis, especially when it involves your profile information might be a place to invest some time.
