A Star Wars image has leaked online, and Disney, which owns Lucasfilm, is seeking a subpoena against the leaker who released the pic on the photo sharing site ImageShack under the name Darth-Simi.
The image, which was reportedly leaked back in October, was promptly removed from ImageShack. It showed what appears to be a test photo or concept art of a Sith Lord clad in a black cloak and mask and wielding a broadsword light saber identical to the one seen in the trailer.

A representative for Disney has confirmed that the leaked Star Wars image is related to the upcoming episode VII. The company has sent ImageShack a takedown notice and has also demanded that the site hand over Darth-Simi’s account details.
Disney is citing a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which will require ImageShack to remove any pics upon a rightsholder’s request or else become legally liable. Violators can be fined up to $150,000 per infringement. The DMCA also gives rightsholders the right to issue a subpoena to uncover the infringer’s identity.
This marks the second time in three months Disney had to resort to legal means to take down a leaker. Back in November, the company issued a subpoena against Google after the Internet mega giant posted material for the upcoming Avengers movie Age of Ultron.
As of now, the case is pending, and ImageShack has not publicly released any statements about the leaked Star Wars image. For fans, though, the leak just heightens the anticipation; Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is scheduled for a December 2015 release. Episodes VIII and IX have also been given a release date of 2017 and 2019 respectively. Furthermore, Disney also has two spinoffs planned with a release date between 2016 and 2019. It’s planned in a way so that a Star Wars film is released every year for the next five years after the release of The Force Awakens.
