We all want success, yet an ‘all work and no play’ attitude quickly depletes us of energy, and seeks a contrary effect. Therefore, aside from making way toward more money and prestige, we must ensure that time is reserved for relaxation and rest.
People
It’s important to surround yourself with the people you love and care about. Work affords you the ability to buy and do things for people you care about, yet work should not take you away from them or harm relationships. Like work duties, make time for friends and family members. As one gets older, and responsibilities grow in number, it gets more difficult to stay in contact with the ones that make living worthwhile. The people you love need to be on your recharging to-do list.
Places
Particular places give us energy and make us happier individuals. Some prefer to get strength from the gym while others seek places of worship and religion. Regardless of the place’s primary purpose, seek a location that provides you with energy and mental stability. For example, those who love the ocean should take regular trips to the coast to recharge their batteries and feel better. Alternatively, if you’re religious and get inspiration and positive energy from a place of worship, go there and replenish your psyche.
Hobbies
Hobbies warrant time, interest, and passion. Like a hard day’s work, we place intrinsic value in engaging in activities we love. Those who fish, golf, play tennis and other sports report a ‘high’ resulting from the experience. For example, those who play golf, try to stay on the green as much as possible despite hectic work weeks and demands of family. Golf lovers need the sport to feel fulfilled and effectively address other facets of life. If you’re in love with a hobby but limit time of engagement, reconsider your strategy and allocation of free time. If a few rounds of golf increase the productivity and wellness of the rest of the week, the short vacation is time well invested.
Food
We are what we eat – literally. The foods we put in our stomachs charge the body and keep us moving throughout the day. A poor diet filled with preservatives and fast food items makes us feel sluggish, depressed, and unproductive. Alternatively, those who consume fresh vegetables and fruits remain vibrant and vigorous throughout the day, which makes it easier to appreciate each task. Recharging and relaxation means taking care of the body, which influences the mind and how we feel. If we are what we eat, then it’s important to consume foods and dishes comprised of the best and healthiest ingredients.
Clothes
We feel good when we look good. How long has it been since your last change of wardrobe? Do you find enjoyment in investing in fine clothing and looking your best? With men’s fashion ranges in particular, it shouldn’t be hard to find fine clothing that you look good in and that make you feel incredible. Don’t just pay attention to the look and label, ensure that you’re buying clothing made of fine cloth. The quality of cloth dictates how clothes appear. Moreover, consider taking your items to a tailor for a sure, perfect fit. If the clothes make the man, than seek quality garments to feel your best.
Exercise
Nothing good comes easy. This is true in business as well as other areas of life including exercise and fitness. In addition to healthy foods, add a dose of exercise to your daily diet. Just one hour of exercise per day can dramatically influence how you feel. You don’t have to join an expensive gym or invest in an oversized home device. Choose a cardiovascular activity like jogging or something warranting more intensity like tennis or hockey. The human body gets depressed when idle for too long; recharge your batteries and get more positive by engaging in some form of exercise.
Reflection
Self-reflection and introspection helps reenergise the psyche and prepares us for a brighter and better-understood future. It takes time to ‘know thy self,’ and those who are in tune with themselves better relate to others and foster healthier relationships. Life is replete with demands yet some necessities become neglected without awareness. Whether reflecting while riding a bike, taking a walk, listening to music, or writing in a journal, devote time toward introspection and knowing yourself.
That’s it. It seems easy enough to recharge and feel better. However, the process takes dedication and commitment. It’s important to take care of oneself. Who else will do it for us? Visit people; eat well; and be overall happier.
