The Mind Boggling Social Media Statistics From 2013 (Infographic)

Over the last several years, the popularity of social media has reached incredible heights—and 2013 was the best year thus far. Some of the mind boggling social media statistics from the past year prove this. Did you know that 30 percent of traffic from social media is from SlideShare.net? LinkedIn acquired SlideShare for $119 million in 2013. Snapchat, an incredibly popular photo sharing application, decline acquisition offers of up to $4 billion from both Google and Facebook. In many ways, 2013 was the year of the #selfie—35 million of them were posted just to Instagram!


Are you an avid Pinner? Pinterest’s most followed board in 2013 was L.L. Bean’s Woodland Creatures with 4,689,706 followers. Speaking of Pinterest, did you know that it commanded the largest share of total traffic referred to e-commerce sites? Also, the average Pinterest shopper spends $140-$180, yet only 10 percent of brands have a major marketing focus and presence on Pinterest. In 2013, 95 percent of Facebook users logged into their accounts daily. One of Facebook’s main competitors, Twitter reached 231.7 million active users. Google+ wants to get on their levels, and it does add 25,000 new users every day.
