Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder revealed the first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Snyder included the following with the photo: There is only one true King. #unitetheseven.

The former “Game of Thrones” star was cast in the role last year. The seven the poster hopes to unite are members of Justice League: Aquaman, Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Green Lantern (not yet cast).

Momoa spoke with Entertainment Weekly to talk about taking on the role and the reveal of the poster.

He said he was surprised as he did not expect the unveiling of the poster to happen this year. Snyder touched based with him shortly before posting the picture:

“He sent it over and we’re in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I’m doing right now, and we all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out.”

Asked about bringing the character to the screen, Momoa said,

“The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing. There’s so many things to tell, and there’s a whole backstory that’s just amazing. There’s a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he’s been cast aside. But, um [laughs] times are going to change now, buddy.

What’s great about this is Zack, man. We don’t want to just reinvent it, but he’s a got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I’m really honored to be playing it. I’m excited for the world to see it… There’s definitely a plan in this whole universe that he’s designing, and it’s amazing to be a part of it. I think everything that you see that is building, there’s a purpose behind the whole plan.”

Momoa said he does not have any action sequences in ‘Dawn of Justice.’

“It’s Batman and Superman, it’s not my movie. It’s the first time in history to have them both on the screen together, and I’m just excited to see those two up there.”

He also said that his TV series “The Red Road” shoots its six episode seasons in under two months, so his commitment to that will not interfere with his DC movie commitments.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. Justice League: Part One is then set to follow on November 10, 2017 with the solo Aquaman hitting July 27, 2018 before Justice League: Part Two arrives on June 14, 2019.
