Adam Driver had his life changed when he won the role of Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise. The actor spoke about how excited he is to get back to the set of Star Wars for Episode VIII.

Talking with Entertainment Weekly, Driver spoke about Rian Johnson, the director taking over from J.J. Abrams for the next Star Wars movie. “Their temperaments are different,” Driver said. “I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one – just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was. There’s a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language.”

When asked about the huge box office success of The Force Awakens, Driver said “I didn’t turn into a new person… Nothing happened to me. But a lot of people saw it, and that was good. I guess my Christmas is kind of easier now – the toys and things for family. Kids is a big thing: I feel like before parents kept me away from their kids; now it’s like, go get a picture.”

In a sit-down with Stephen Colbert, Driver briefly discussed his military days, and revealed his fellow Marines gave him a pretty awful nickname during that time.

“There was another guy in my unit with big ears, so I guess he was Ears One and I was Ears Two,” Driver said. “His last name was Martinez. He kind of got the majority of the verbal punishment.”

While on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday night, the shy actor opened up about how it’s been for him since the release of the record-breaking blockbuster.

“I haven’t really gone outside much in the past couple of months,” Driver said.

“The kids are great,” Driver went on to tell Colbert. “I feel like before parents were like ‘Stay away from my kids,’ and now they’re like, ‘Get up there and take a picture, you’ll appreciate it later.’ But that part of it is good, I love that part. The parents are a scary thing.”

Adam Driver also had a slight teaser for Episode VIII: “They’re still at war. It’s still Star Wars…They’re not at peace.” If you can decipher that cryptic message, let us know.

Driver can currently be seen on the fifth season of HBO’s “Girls” on Sunday nights, and he’s also in the great sci-fi movie “Midnight Special,” now in theaters.

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. When a defector named Finn crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights.

Star Wars: Episode VIII has a December 16, 2017 release directed by Rian Johnson starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
