Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not even finished its run in theaters but now fans can focus on the next DC film. Ben Affleck who plays the Dark Knight has already written a script for a standalone movie for his character, according to William Morris Endeavor co-CEO Patrick Whitesell, whose agency represents Affleck. In the current film, while reactions have been mixed, Affleck has been receiving strong support for his interpretation of Batman. So, this news is certainly appealing for fans looking to move on from Zac Snyder’s latest flick.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter about how many movies Affleck has signed on for as Batman, he said, “He’s contracted to do at least Justice League [Part] One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape.” Whitesell added, “There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

Affleck was first linked to a standalone Batman movie as star, director, and co-writer (with Geoff Johns) last summer, and Whitesell’s remarks indicate the project has progressed since then.

“I tend to be a one-movie-at-a-time guy,” Affleck said to EW. “So, when I’m finished with this movie, I’ll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office. With $12.25m in domestic grosses bringing its U.S. total to $193.3m and another $20.7m bringing its overseas cume to $308.6m, its new worldwide cume sits at $501.9m as of Tuesday.

The Ben Affleck/Henry Cavill/Gal Gadot superhero smackdown crossed the $0.5 billion mark in its first week of release since the film opened in a handful of territories last Wednesday. The film earned $30.3 million worldwide yesterday, a 34% drop from Monday’s $46m global gross. Of note, Monday was a holiday in some overseas markets so we’ll have to pay attention to see if Wednesday levels off said drop, according to Forbes.

In the film, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, joined by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance as Aquaman.
