Yes, there are some cool Thanksgiving movies out there.
Thanksgiving movies are definitely hard to come by. When it comes to the land of Hollywood, it seems like Thanksgiving has been a forgotten holiday.
As a matter of fact, I think Thanksgiving has even been forgotten in stores. Did you notice how the Halloween aisles were immediately replaced with Christmas stuff? Yeah, me too.
Even though Thanksgiving doesn’t get as much attention in Hollywood (or stores) as Halloween or Christmas, there are still some awesome Thanksgiving movies out there that you can watch.
After you fill yourself up on Turkey and pumpkin pie, you should definitely sit back, unbuckle your belt and watch these 4 great Thanksgiving movies.
Enjoy.
Dutch (1991)
Al Bundy himself, Ed O’Neill stars in this hilarious Thanksgiving movie, as well does a young Ethan Embry.
Basically, it’s Ed O’Neill’s job to escort this menace of a kid from his boarding school back to his mom’s house for Thanksgiving dinner in an attempt to bond with the boy’s mother. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned, because the kid is a little snob and doesn’t approve of his mother’s new boyfriend.
This movies has a lot of “Home Alone” type humor in it, as the kid beats up on the adult quite a bit.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
Man, this is a movie everyone should watch at least once in their life as it’s one of those true classics.
Basically, Steve Martin’s character is trying to make it home for Thanksgiving and his only companion is a shower ring salesman that he just met at the airport where his flight has been cancelled due to bad weather. The shower ring salesman, played by John Candy, is going in the same direction as Steve Martin, so they decide to stick together and try to make it home for the holidays by whatever means necessary. Of course, nothing goes as planned during their little adventure and it’s hilarious. This movie is sort of like a 1980′s version of Dumb & Dumber.
Son in Law (1993)
I’m probably going to get a lot of flack including a Pauly Shore movie on the list, but it’s not like we have a lot to choose from and I actually dig this flick. Basically, a farm girl is returning home for Thanksgiving during Thanksgiving break and she’s taking her eccentric college friend with her (Pauly Shore). Pauly Shore is a wild party animal and really sticks out like a sore thumb in the small town, but he wants to prove he can be a farmer.
Grumpy Old Men (1993)
This movie is about, well, grumpy old men. These two old men, Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, have always feuded with each other and competed with each other, but things get worse when a sexy new neighbor moves into town.
Do you know of any Thanksgiving movies?
If so, feel free to list them in the comments section. Either way, I hope you enjoy these awesome Thanksgiving movies.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
