I used to say “Stay Positive” when connecting with people on social media. Now, I have changed my tone a bit, “Get Fired Up” and create a passion for what you are doing and what you stand for. Just making this tiny change can really pay off dividends. In a world where data and thoughts are being fed online more and more through text messages and emails. You need a way to stand out from the crowd.
If you write a blog, think about what you are saying. Do you really believe what you are writing about? If the answer is no, then think twice about sharing that thought. Right now bad news and especially “really bad news” is the type of news that is filling our networks.
Today, the challenge for marketers is to create excitement and passion not only for a particular project, but everyday as a way to keep your brand in the spotlight and offer people more options than the typical “news”
People who speak with a passion are generally those people who most people want to be connected with. In my experience the best way to speak with a high level of passion is to talk about the following:
1) Past experiences – When someone can talk from actual experience, this really shows that the person is directly involved and understands what is happening. (People who talk from experience are definitely a step above others)
2) Can shed light on a new perspective – People who talk with passion generally shine the light on the subject that hasn’t quite been seen before. This type of information is very refreshing to readers. (People who share new perspectives typically are leaders in their practice or industry.
3) Can talk in simple terms and short messages – The best articles I have read are not the long, researched articles. I prefer the short, in your face messages that amplify results, results and more results. I want to read something and remember it for awhile. People who can share information in this manner, know how to connect with their audience. (If you are having trouble getting people to read your work, maybe you should see if the content you are sharing is too long and not focused.
Creating excitement and having a passion for your message is critical if you are going to connect with others. Stand for something and make sure you find a way to get your message across to people in a way that resonates.
