Normally I Hate Traffic, but We Should Welcome It

Don’t you get confused and irritated with all of these authors who claim to know how to improve your online performance? There are dozens if not hundreds of techniques that can be used to improve your online presence. But unless you’ve been in the digital marketing industry for quite some time, there’s little chance of you being able to understand and implement them. The purpose of this article is to give you a very basic idea of what you can do to increase traffic to your website.

I believe there are three stages to increasing your online performance, regardless of whether you’re selling a product or your services. In this short article I shall discuss the first key stage that I believe will make or break your online presence. There are many tips out there that are aimed to maximise your online business, however they can often be in-depth and extreme in the details. The aim is to increase traffic to you website. After all, who is going to buy from your shop if no one is in it?

The first stage is to generate traffic to your website. So how do you do this? Do you use a pay per click (PPC) campaign, or a search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign? Either type of campaign, or a combination of both, can be used if you’re looking to increase your online performance.

A PPC campaign is essentially when you purchase ad space from a company. A common platform for this is Google Adwords. Google match your advert or website with internet users that search for keywords that you select. This means that if you can use Adwords, and its many analytical tools, you will be able to gain direct access to your target audience. Adwords can be in demand which can, in some instances, cause the cost of a campaign to be considerably high.

SEO campaigns are those that aim to increase your organic listings in search engines, such as Google. With millions of searches appearing for your average search, how can you make sure you’re website is displayed? That’s the goal of SEO activities. The purpose is to ensure you appear for relevant searches. Again, a vast amount of techniques and knowledge goes into applying a successful SEO campaign.
