Happy Memorial Day everyone! The United States honored its veterans today with parades, tributes, ceremonies, and of course, tweets.
With deepest thanks for those who served, those who continue to serve, and the families & communities that support them. #HappyMemorialDay

Of course, not all of our soldiers are currently in the country. President Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan today to honor the troops who are still serving overseas as well as those who have fallen in battle. According to ABC, close to 3,000 members of the U.S. military have died during the war in Afghanistan.
Obama promised that the war in Afghanistan would finally come to a close by the end of the year.
Obama said: “Everything that we hold precious in this country was made possible by Americans who gave their all … By the end of this year, our war in Afghanistan will finally come to an end.”
Several other politicians, celebrities, and athletes took to Twitter to thank the men and women of the US Military for their service.
