Roman Reigns Could Turn Heel Or Win By Assist From The Rock Against Triple H

WrestleMania 32 is nearly upon us and the main event will once again see Roman Reigns attempting to win the WWE heavyweight championship. Reigns has been receiving mixed reactions for quite some time but is still being pushed for the main event picture.

WWE tried throwing him into a match with Triple H in an effort to gain some more positive responses but it has done the opposite.

Reigns was recently interviewed by the Edmonton Sun. Reigns was a former player for the Edmonton Eskimos and talks about his brief time there. He also discussed when wrestling became on option.

The agile, imposing juggernaut has been told his entire life that he cannot accomplish his goals. And since day one of his arrival in WWE, he has proven his naysayers wrong in the language of broken bodies and shattered Superstars who thought they had his number. Whether it was finishing opposing teams off as the enforcer of The Shield or steadily grinding his way toward the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as a solo competitor, Reigns has made a lasting impression on anyone who’s come into contact with him. Here are some highlights from that interview.

On his attempt to make it in the NFL

“I tried to find that NFL team … you’re always searching, you’re looking for that team, that team that’s going to change your life. For me, WWE was my team. It just took me a while to find that and to realize it, but they’ve always been there since the day I was born.”

On when he began to think about a career in wrestling

“I was starting to have those thoughts of, ‘OK, if something magical doesn’t happen up here, something really great that’s going to build a foundation either up here, or able to propel me back down south to the NFL, then I don’t know if I want to invest anymore energy into football,’ because I had played it for so long,” Reigns said. “I had played it since seven years old, essentially.”

On holding the WWE Title

“I think once you’ve had the title, that’s all you really think about,” he said. “It’s weird to say, I’m a two-time champion — hopefully three-time after Dallas — there is huge enjoyment to have that title on your shoulder, to travel the whole world to defend it every single night in a different town, all over the country, all over the world.

“To be able to have that responsibility, there’s nothing like it.”

Regarding the possible outcomes, Bleacher Reports suggested that Reigns turns heel. The reality that Reigns is receiving heavy boos is undeniable, and if WWE wants to roll with the punches moving forward, the possibility of a heel turn for Reigns is an intriguing option heading into WrestleMania 32.

Or that The Rock helps Reigns win. If WWE is dead set on leaving Reigns as a top face despite the crowd reactions, the officials must do whatever is needed to make wrestling fans like him. With lackluster mic skills and a limited move set, how his character is portrayed at WrestleMania 32 will be the deciding factor.
