How Can You Strengthen Your Position on Social Media?

How Can You Strengthen Your Position on Social Media? image ID 100184319Too many times, especially at the end of the year, I read posts that talk about the following:

  • Know where your customers are

  • Have a plan

  • Know your products and services

  • Work with an expert who really knows these platforms

These are all good principles to follow, but the real key I believe is to continue to implement new ideas and use metrics to determine if those ideas have merit or not. From here, a solid plan can be put in place. (Do your own homework and apply your own company knowledge)

The idea that people need to consider is “real-time “. Everything happens in an instant. Many deals are locked up because people happened to be in the right place at the right time. When was the last time you gained a new client because the client followed your tweets for the past year or you dialogued with them on Linkedin for a period of months.

People like “fresh content “. People want the latest greatest product. The only way to compete is getting your name out in the market everyday. From here, you can build on your ideas and strengthen your position.

The best way to do work at this is to connect with “only the best people in your industry” or your “target market“. Connecting with everyone is really a thing of the past and it can lead to a path of ultimate frustration.

Building strength in the gym requires a commitment of time on a consistent basis. All the planning in the world will not get you results if you don’t make it to the gym. The same can be said of strengthening your position on social media platforms. You need to be active in order to continue to gain strength and momentum.

With the landscape continually changing, companies really need to be in the game everyday. For more on this topic, check out this article, “Content predictions for 2014: the views of Coca-Cola, Facebook and others” by Matthew Chapman, November 26, 2013. It gives some good insights as to what is coming in 2014.
