Vijay Jolly Trends On Twitter After Writing ‘Accused’ At Ex-Tehelka Editor Shoma Chaudhury’s House

The Tehelka fiasco seems to drag with every passing day. From a journalist’s sexual assault allegation against Tehelka’s Founder Tarun Tejpal, the entire matter has turned into a political one. The founder who has been accused of raping a colleague at a conference in Goa earlier this month, has stepped down from his position and the Goa Police has been investigating the matter. However the case took a new political turn today as BJP Delhi Chief Vijay Jolly was seen writing ‘accused’ on the name plate of ex-Tehelka editor Shoma Chaudhury’s house.

Earlier in the day, the magazine’s Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury had resigned after questions had been raised on the way she has handled the allegations and trying to settle it as ‘an internal matter of Tehelka’. Shoma, in her resignation mail, has mentioned that she is taking the step to stop questions about her integrity that is tarnishing the image of Tehelka.

“I have worked hard for Tehelka for many years and what we have stood for is very dear to me and I hold it in high esteem. I do not want questions raised about my integrity to tarnish the image of Tehelka, which it has done in the past week. Therefore, I resign as Managing Editor with immediate effect.”

After the news of Shoma’s resignation was out, BJP workers and the party’s Delhi Chief Vijay Jolly gathered outside her house to carry out protests. To make matters worse, the Delhi Chief was photographed defacing the nameplate at the residence of Shoma and writing ‘accused’. The entire incident has been disapproved by the BJP party leadership, RSS and Congress as well.

The intolerable act by a senior party leader has been condemned by Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said, “The party has nothing to do with it, I condemn the act.” She has also promised action while tweeting the same.

I disapprove of what Shri Vijay Jolly has done at the residence of Ms.Shoma Chaudhary.
