Where Do You Do Your Best Work?

Where Do You Do Your Best Work? image Where do you do your best work1

When it comes to working from home you have quite a few places you can try out in order to see where you’re most productive. I mean at the end of the day, you likely didn’t quit (if you’ve taken that step yet) your day job in order to work harder, less effectively, in order to make less money so it’s important to know what your options are, and which of those options work best for your type of personality.

The Home Office

The most common choice after leaving a typical job is to create a dedicated space in the home where you can work undisturbed. For some this might be a den outfitted with all the latest and greatest computing power, and bookshelves filled with all the most current, cutting edged business books out there. For others it might simply be a simple corner down in the basement away from the noise of the family, and away from the distractions such as televisions, etc.

Starbucks – Or the local coffee shop

This one is quite popular with the younger crowd, I personally have never been able to get into my work groove at a busy location because I’m a bit of a people watcher, but they do have several things going for them. 1. Access to as much caffeine as you could ever need. 2. Outlets for plugging in your laptop, or tablet. 3. Free (in most cases) WIFI access. 4. Companionship in a high energy sort of way.

Dedicated Office Space

If your company is already doing quite well or if you happen to be financially flush you might just choose to rent a dedicated space for you and your team. While this does lend itself to an impressive physical presence in most cases our businesses are online and our market is International if not Global and the benefic is in most cases lost on our prospective clients.

Co-working Office Space

This one is becoming quite popular with hourly/daily office rental spaces cropping up in cities all across North America. This is much more economical than renting a dedicated space that will be empty at least 50% of the time in most cases and offers you a wide suite of options that will allow you to conduct business like a much larger corporation.

Some of the benefits:

  • Workspace – Private or communal

  • Meeting rooms you can use

  • Mailbox rentals

  • Mail forwarding

  • Virtual Offices

  • Access to phones, faxes, copiers, and other business equipment

  • Trendy upscale location

  • Professionally designed décor

  • And much more…

Many smaller to mid-sized online startups are choosing this route lately and using it as a stepping stone for when things become so complex that they absolutely need to move into a dedicated space.

Working outdoors

Now this one is probably everyone’s favorite, but I’m not sure how productive it allows you to be. I personally have never had my highest daily outputs while working from the beach or the park, but for scenery and viewpoints it certainly can’t be beat!

Regardless of where you choose to do your work today, just remember, one of the perks of being an entrepreneur, or work from home mom is the fact that you get to switch things up once in a while. Sometimes a break from the routine is just what we need in order to get those creative juices flowing, or to break through a sticking point.

Let your workplace inspire you!
