Facerift: Browsing Facebook With The Oculus Rift And Your Face

With Facebook acquiring Oculus VR for $2 billion, it was only a matter of time before app developers began to capitalize on the connection. One of those development firms, Montreal-based collective KO-OP Mode, and its developers Bronson Zgeb and Gruau Pomme Lackey, have created Facerift. The new app allows users to browse Facebook in a virtual reality environment.

Users of the Oculus Rift can simply move their face around while wearing the device to browse the social network.

Using the application requires wandering around a 3D Facebook environment along with help from the users arrow keys.

According to the Facerift website you “Scroll Facebook… with your face.” The development company claims, “You’ll never Facebook without your face again.”

Sure the graphics could use a little bit of work, but honestly, you get to LIVE inside the insert! This tech should go over great for us nerds who already live in front of our computer screens.

Facerift is currently available for MAC and PC.
