Junior Lake added his mark to the inglorious history of the Chicago Cubs today. Lake was in the wrong jersey when he took his place in left field for the Cubs. Unfortunately for Junior Lake, nothing gets by anyone.
Not anymore.
The Chicago Cubs have shown off a new jersey this season an off-grey version of the previous threads. “CUBS” is spelled out in block lettering across the chest of the player.
The new jersey is what Junior Lake should have been wearing when he took the field today in the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Oops! Junior Lake wearing "Chicago" jersey today, while the rest of the team is wearing "Cubs." http://ift.tt/1fBYHA9

Instead Junior Lake wore the previous version of the uniform with “Chicago” from shoulder-to-shoulder. The young infielder was aware of his mistake after playing the defensive half, making a quick visit to clubhouse between the first and second.
In defense of Junior Lake, the Cubs did engage in an exhausting 16 inning marathon last night. Perhaps fatigue is behind Lake’s inattentiveness. The Cubs didn’t finish playing until the wee hours of Thursday morning and had an early start today.
The long day did not effect the uniform choice of other players.
The Pirates won the longest game in their franchise history early Thursday, but the Cubs claimed the later victory. Despite the uniform gaffe the Cubs defeated the Pirates 3-2.
Twitter had fun with the Cubs this afternoon. The team has Junior Lake to thank for that.
The Cubs can't even wear the same uniform. Junior Lake in LF wearing "CHICAGO" on front, while rest of team wearing "CUBS".

I'd like to think this is a protest by Junior Lake against those brutal new uniforms. (CC @UniWatch) http://t.co/IARXAqVdIj
