Red Sox slugger David Ortiz visited the White House today as President Obama honored the defending World Series champions.
Luckily for Red Sox Nation, Ortiz brought his smart phone and tweeted at every stop, even snapping the crown jewel of contemporary selfie.
What an honor! Thanks for the #selfie, @BarackObama http://ift.tt/1kp3x3z

Following his heroics this past October it could be argued that David Ortiz is the most beloved figure in Boston sports history.
Not Bill Russell, not Larry Bird, not Tom Brady.
David Ortiz.
Ortiz thrives as “Big Papi” the larger than life slugger who delivered three world championships to a starving fan base.
After the bombing at the Boston Marathon, it was David Ortiz who grabbed the microphone and reminded that Boston wasn’t to be messed with.
There’s a deep, heartfelt connection between Ortiz and the Red Sox fan base.
When Big Papi goes to the White House, Boston is coming along with him.
