As I write this, April Fools’ Day is not yet over (unless you live in the hemisphere that’s already in tomorrow. Each year we come across some fun pranks – the ones that catch our attention are the ones that take not only a bit of thought but also great design.

Google launches Ad Birds on April 1st
Google’s many pay per click customers logged in today to find a brand new service – Ad Birds offers the ability to advertise on different parts of a bird. You just choose your bird type and ad position and you are “ready for take off”.
Vauxhall gets ready for Brazil World Cup
With the summer World Cup Finals approaching in Brazil, Vauxhall decided to mock up a new model Astra called the Copacabana. We might have asked for a test drive but the idea of sitting on prickly grass wasn’t appealing.

A simple idea but a good one. What’s the best thing since sliced bread? Well, sliced bread, of course, that always knows which side has the butter. No more worrying about the bread landing butter side down.

Mini is a quintessential British car (well, it was once). What better fuel for a Brit than a nice pot of English tea? A clever idea? Not really, but it was all in the design – enough to get it shared and the brand seen.

Tesco announced its new tablet for couples. You no longer have to spend time online separately again – just do everything as a couple. Three hours after they announced it, they admitted it was a joke – chickens.
