What’s the point of being a tech or software company if you don’t occasionally talk about the latest innovations? It’s why you should never fear of running out of content ideas. More than that, you shouldn’t be afraid of giving your target audience the occasional fun read.
In this case, Google Glass sounds like a good topic to discuss right now. Its potential for augmented reality is getting harder to question in spite of its limitations. On the other hand, that same potential can make for some fun speculation in the workplace (the very place you’re hoping to sell to).
- Team surveillance – Ever played Call of Duty? Imagine Google Glass worn by an entire team that’s out on the field. Each of them has an app that connects back to your desk. Wouldn’t it be pretty cool to see everything they’re seeing? Not to mention, it can make for faster, real-time decision-making.
- Brand research – Another feature unique to Glass is recognizing images (e.g. movie posters, words etc). What if you developed an app that helps decision makers conduct faster research just from reading a company name? It can certainly make for faster sales meetings. (Just make sure the competition doesn’t beat you to realizing the idea and having your prospects put you under their lens.)
- Better alerts – Suppose a manager wants to alert a select number of employees that are scattered all around the building (or even during an event). They’re all wearing Google Glass. A push of a button and the alert immediately pops up in their faces. It may be a little disruptive but in matters of urgency, you might as well feel like Captain America calling to assemble.
- Checklist – Even something as simple as a checklist of tasks gets a lot easier when it’s hands free. You no longer have to memorize too often or fear that something was missed. And furthermore, a finished list can serve as a final proof to the boss who suspects you of slacking.
Granted, these are actually pretty basic possibilities for augmented reality tools like Glass. But if these alone already inspire possibilities, there’s no shortage of amusing ideas you can pose to your blog readers, live audiences, or even just the prospect waiting for your sales rep to start the meeting.
