They may be small but friends Kate Mara and Ellen Page have been pushing to be in the second season of True Detective for a while now, even using #TrueDetectiveSeason2 to express their interest. Although neither actress was one of the new cast members announced, Mara and Page created their own version of the hit HBO show.
They appear together in the Funny or Die’s parody Tiny Detectives.
It’s just like True Detective, except Mara and Page are really small. They are afraid of ladders. They possibly sleep in a shoebox. And, someone must get Page a Smart car.
This spoof follows the most recent news that True Detective, has set Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn as the male leads of the second season. Now, Rachel McAdams has joined the cast in a leading female role and Taylor Kitsch is reported to round out the cast.
In the second season, three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.
Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him while Vaughn is set to play Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. Details on McAdam’s role have not yet been revealed.
The eight-episode, hour-long drama is set to begin production later this fall in California with Justin Lin directing the first two episodes. The series is created and written by Nic Pizzolatto.
