Pinterest recently redesigned its mobile website, and according to new data from Piqora, drove 78.4 percent more revenue in January 2014 compared to a year prior.

Piqora specializes in marketing on the visual web, and analyzed Google Analytics referral data across over 400 brands from January 2013 to January 2014.

Here were the overall findings, which take into account traffic from desktops, mobile phones and tablets:

  • 36.2 percent increase in visits

  • 56.2 percent increase in pageviews

  • 36.4 percent increase in visitors

  • 15.9 percent increase in transactions

  • 78.4 percent increase in total revenue

  • 43.1 percent increase in average order value

Mobile is the breakout star, and according to Piqora, brands are seeing triple-digit growth in revenue.

  • 73.2 percent increase in visits

  • 135.6 percent increase in pageviews

  • 70.7 percent increase in visitors

  • 46.2 percent increase in new visitors

  • 77.2 percent increase in transactions

  • 224.1 percent increase in total revenue

  • 79.3 percent increase in average order value

While total revenue via tablets was up just 10.3 percent, average order value increased 30.5 percent and visitors were up 45.05 percent.

From Piqora Co-Founder and CEO Sharad Verma:

“The key takeaways from this study are that mobile and tablet revenue and average order value have gone up significantly. This means Pinterest users aren’t just browsing product images on these devices – they are actively shopping, conducting research and buying products from touch devices.”

Verma also points out that mobile Pinterest users aren’t only buying more, but buying more expensive products.
