Oakland Athletic Josh Reddick changed his Twitter profile picture to a still image of him scaling an outfield wall on Wednesday to rob new San Francisco Giant Michael Morse of a monster home run.

Reddick’s catch set the tone for the A’s 10-5 win as Spring Training games got under way in Arizona. The game itself won’t hold much importance, but for Reddick and Morse it may have felt that way.

Michael Morse made his Giant debut after signing with the team in free agency. The power he showed is a good sign for San Francisco going forward. There were concerns about what he had left in his tank coming back from a major injury.

Josh Reddick also showed promise with his wall climbing grab. Like Morse, Reddick is trying to prove himself after suffering multiple wrist injuries in 2013.

Both players used Twitter to have fun with their debuts. Reddick found a picture a fan posted with his wall climbing antics and made the picture his new profile image:

Morse, who actually got robbed twice by Reddick the same way, added his own commentary to the picture:

Heading into 2014, both the A’s and Giants will be looking to find October magic. The Giants will be trying to rebound from a 76-86 season one year after winning the World Series. If recent history has anything to say it will be a good year for San Francisco. In 2010 they won the World Series, then missed the playoffs in 2011. Then in 2012 they won it all, then lost it all in 2013. See the pattern?

The A’s have won the AL West the last two seasons, only to lose to the Tigers in the ALDS. They’ll be looking to repeat that performance without the heartbreak.

For Josh Reddick and the A’s to go deep into October, he will have to lead with his glove and his bat. His catch on Wednesday was ridiculous, but his offensive production in two seasons has been inconsistent. If the A’s get lucky, he will be the complete package in 2014.
