Social media fans, we have a first. Facebook Poke can actually get you in trouble with the law.

Facebook Poke has always been kind of an awkward staple of social media, and after one too many received by your well-meaning but naive grandma, most of you probably stopped using it altogether circa 2009.

But for folks like 25-year-old Justin Pressler, the “poke” is the last open line of communication he has … to an ex-girlfriend he was convicted of stalking and harassing back in 2010.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Pressler and his ex met at Texas A&M and they dated for less than a year. He apparently didn’t take the break-up too well, and was arrested for stalking, harassment and burglarizing his former love’s home.

He was convicted by a Brazos County jury in August 2013, given six months in prison and 10 years probation.

One month after being released from prison, Pressler apparently still hasn’t learned his lesson.

He poked his ex on Facebook (on her birthday, no less), a major no-no in the terms of his probation. A Brazos County judge changed those terms to include:

  • Ankle monitoring device to be work for one year.

  • No unsupervised Internet for two years.

That’s what a Facebook Poke can get you, people. Well, when you’re on probation for being stalky.
