Twitter poked fun at Seattle Sunday night for its incredibly tame Super Bowl celebration using the hashtag #HowSeattleRiots. The city known for hippies, organic food, Starbucks, and over-politeness did cause some damage while celebrating the Seahawks first Super Bowl victory, but it wasn’t to the same scale as other cities.

The hashtag was spawned after local news stations showed fans waiting politely at crosswalks until the “Walk” signal showed, burning mattresses at the University of Washington’s Greek Row, and hanging out screaming (and probably smoking marijuana) downtown. While there was a police presence, there didn’t appear to be many, if any, arrests. In fact, one tweeter noted:

And now a guy just knocked a sign over in front of a cop. The cop made him pick it up… then hugged him.

And the video of more polite Seahawks celebration: http://ift.tt/1kGEEB4 Soon, the hashtag turned into Seattleites and non-Seattleites making fun of the city’s culture:

And, of course, no mention of Seattle is complete without comments about marijuana and at least one Seahawks player (this time it’s Marshawn Lynch).

While the riots appeared to be tame, the media reported that fans caused about $25,000 in damage to a historic pagoda in Pioneer Square.
