Amanda Bynes could not adjust to life being confined in a mental health facility and thus has been released into the public. On Thursday night, the troubled actress was said to be roaming the Sunset Strip in search of food and a place to sleep.
She was originally ordered to stay confined, under a doctor’s care and medicated for the span of a year’s time. Despite that order, she has been given her walking papers after being held at the facility for more than two weeks.
On Thursday, sources close to the situation revealed that Bynes went before a hearing officer at the facility in which she asked for her release. Despite doctors claiming that she is severely mentally ill, the actress has been on her medications and appears to be lucid, according to TMZ.
The hearing officer felt Amanda was stable enough so she could NOT be held involuntarily, so he ended the 30-day hold that had been granted last week and Amanda walked out the front door.
Amanda walked down Sunset Blvd., searching for a place to stay. She then went to a diner where she ordered a ton of food which she devoured — fried chicken, salmon, caesar salad with guacamole, and a house salad with Italian and ranch. She was chit-chatting with the waiter and said she was shy because she had a procedure on her face which required a bandage. She was alone in the diner and was talking to herself.
Amanda Bynes has been on a downward spiral since a year ago when her mental illness first became apparent. During one of her first dangerous incidents, Bynes set fire to a driveway and poured gasoline on her own dog. As recently as this year, Bynes was said to be shoplifting, talking to herself and buying Cartier jewelry for strangers. Even worse, she had claimed to have gotten engaged to a man of whom claims he barely had contact with her. It’s a sad case all of the way around and we’re hoping for the best for her in this obviously dire situation.
