Apparently, a potentially booby-trapped home is up for sale in New Hampshire. The house rests on a secluded hilltop and has been put up for auction by federal officials. According to those same officials, there may be explosives hidden within the property.
This is actually the second time the home is being put up for auction. The 100-acre property was originally made available for sale back in August but failed to attract a single bidder. Of course, it’s not a far stretch to guess that no one would want to move into a home that may contain landmines and other explosives just waiting to ignite. That and the steep $250,000 price tag are probably why the home still stands vacant.
The booby-trapped home for sale previously belonged to Ed Brown who moved in with his wife in 2007 after the couple was sought by authorities for tax evasion. After a brief standoff, the two were arrested. According to Brown, he did not believe paying taxes was a legal practice and was an abuse of government power. The man has long been known as a conspiracy nut; in 1994, he foretold of a violent revolution underway in the U.S. as politicians – including George Bush, Bill Clinton, and Mikhail Gorbachev – were on a secret mission to “deprive Americans of their liberty.”
The home soon became a staging point for like-minded conspiracy theorists. When US Marshals moved in to make the arrest, they discovered a cache of weapons that included dozens of firearms, armored piercing bullets, and pipe bombs. Explosives were even found hidden within trees resting on the property.
With the house previously belonging to a fanatic off his rockers, it’s no wonder why the booby-trapped home for sale can’t attract buyers. Who can settle in a home knowing that there just might be explosives beneath the walls or underneath the floorboards?
