The Star War Lego franchise is popular, but a fan-made video that combines the two has emerged, based on the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, and it’s epic. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was released only Friday, but it’s already making waves. There are debates raging about the new lightsaber design, and a lot of discussion of whether the movie is going to be a thrill or a disappointment.
There hasn’t been much discussion, though, of how the new movie, or at least the trailer, would look in Lego. If you’ve been wondering, though, Youtuber Snooperking is serving up the answers. He’s created an entire Star Wars Lego trailer, with animated ships and characters. It’s accurate down to the detail of the new cross-shaped lightsabers, and it’s quickly going viral, with over a million hits in its first day online.
Check out his video below, and see what you think:
Snooperking says that he spent a total of about 12 hours creating the trailer, which runs almost a minute and a half. It’s just a few seconds shorter than the official trailer, and closely mimics the original scene by scene, down to the dash through the snowy forest — a scene that’s got fans speculating, since it bear no real resemblance to any scenery seen in any previous Star Wars movie.
The creator says he animated the trailer through a combination of some stop-motion, some sewing thread, and, for the Millennium Falcon, by moving the camera, rather than the ship itself, due to time constraints.
The video quickly shot to over a million views, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. The video is cute, and, unlike the actual trailer, this Star Wars Lego version doesn’t have fans speculating on whether the full movie will live up to their hopes and expectations.
