Johnny Manziel’s Roommate Hit With DUI Charges While Driving Rookie’s Car

A man fingered as one of the members of Johnny Manziel’s entourage involved in an early-morning brawl outside a downtown Cleveland hotel earlier this month was taken into custody Saturday morning on suspicion of drunken driving charges.

According to Cleveland.com, the 24-year-old man was driving one of the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback’s vehicles when taken into custody around 2:30 a.m.. The website added he is currently being held in the Cleveland city Jail awaiting formal charges.

Several media outlets have reported the 22-year-old Manziel was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident. On Nov. 22, Manziel and several members of his entourage were involved in a brawl outside The 9 Hotel after a man told police he was repeatedly punched in the face by members of Manziel’s crew when he tried to approach the former Texas A&M Heisman Trophy winner.

That incident also took place in the early morning hours and rumors have since circulated that the Browns might be thinking of imposing a midnight curfew on Manziel.

In a released statement, Browns general manager Ray Farmar told media members the time of the incident involving Manziel was “concerning” to the team. Serving as Brian Hoyer’s backup, Manziel has taken just five snaps for the Browns this season.

During his two seasons at A&M, Manziel passed for at least 3,700 yards and 26 touchdowns in back-to-back seasons, winning the Heisman as a redshirt freshmen in 2012 when he became the first freshmen in history to throw for more than 3,000 yards and run for at least another 1,000.

Known as “Johnny Football, as a sophomore Manziel passed for 4,114 yards and 37 touchdowns, but still slipped all the way to the Browns at No. 22 in the draft largely because of questions about his lifestyle.

Cleveland police spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia told reporters she could not confirm if Manziel’s car had been towed. She was also unable to provide any further details about Manziel’s roommate’s arrest.
