Nick Cannon appeared on The Meredith Vieira Show on Friday to open up about his separation with Mariah Carey and set some rumors straight.
The America’s Got Talent host explained, “It’s one of those things, being someone who is in the public eye, you never want to deal with your personal life in the public eye – but we have to.”
Cannon said many untrue reports about their separation were spreading through the media. He elaborated, “I heard that there’s a family dispute over our eight dogs. It’s the Jack Russell puppy dispute.”
He told Vieira that the truth of his separation revolved around “staying focused on family and what’s right and getting through these times and just doing what’s right for the kids.” Cannon and Carey’s children are Moroccan and Monroe, who are three-year-old twins born in April 2011.
Cannon and Carey still spend the holidays together and do everything that parents are supposed to do together for their children. For Moroccan and Monroe, the separation hasn’t affected them much. Cannon told Vierira that they twins are used to having their parents coming and going because of their careers. They still love their parents and see both as much as they did before the separation.
Cannon also addressed getting his tattoo for Mariah covered. “It’s like a whole work of art, my entire back and my arm and everything. I was leaving the gym going into the studio just having had that work done and they [the paparazzi] got me. It’s going to be a big reveal, but it’s not finished, it’s half-way done. It’s a lot of pain.”
Though Nick Cannon is handling his separation with Mariah Carey maturely for his children, he did have some advice for other people in relationships about his folly. Mostly, don’t get a tattoo of the other person’s name, reversing or fixing the body art is just painful.
