If you think shopping on Black Friday this year is going to save you a bunch of money, you might be wrong. The best day according to Adobe’s 2014 Digital Index Online Shopping is November 27. If you haven’t been paying attention to your calendar, that’s Thanksgiving Day. Just keep in mind, those deals are reserved for online shoppers.


According to the report, online discounts will reach 24 percent on Thanksgiving Day, the lowest they are expected to be leading up to Christmas Day.


While many Brick and Mortar stores will offer Thanksgiving Day sales and Black Friday offers, and Cyber Monday will soon following on December 1st, online retailers are banking on Turkey Day sales to boost their profits.


According to Adobe it’s report is “the most comprehensive compilation of data in the industry…. The forecast is based on the analysis of aggregated and anonymous data of more than one trillion visits to 4,500 retail websites over the last six years and 20 billion visits this October alone. In addition, more than $7 out of $10 spent online with the top 500 U.S. retailers are measured by Adobe Marketing Cloud.”


Typically the annual Adobe report is correct within a one percent margin of error.


The report also suggests that Thanksgiving Day will also offer the highest percentage of sales from mobile devices than any other day this year. Some $418 million in online sales, 31 percent of the total for the day, is expected to come from devices such as smartphones and tablets, up from 21 percent last year. In the meantime, 26 percent of Black Friday sales or $644 million is expected to come from mobile devices, with Cyber Monday generating 20 percent, or $520 million.


In terms of year end numbers, 27 percent of online sales for the entire year are expected to be delivered in November and December, with total online sales expected to be up 10 percent from last year.


While Thanksgiving Day will offer the lowest prices, Cyber Monday is still expected to be the most profitable for e-commerce platforms.
