Coast Guard Rescues Man Inside Of Inflatable Bubble

The U.S. Coast Guard have rescued A man from inside an inflatable bubble. Reza Baluchi a 42-year-old marathon runner was reported as being in good health this morning, after he created quite the stir over the weekend. Baluchi was attempting to travel from Miami to Bermuda inside of an inflatable bubble that was stocked with the following items: protein bars, bottled water, GPS device, and a satellite phone.

The U.S. Coast Guard first became aware of Baluchi’s travel on Wednesday when reports and sightings of the runner’s adventure were first received.

The U.S. Coast Guard notified Baluchi through a satellite warning to, “stop your voyage and return to the shore” They also informed him that if he continued the dangerous quest a rescue wouldn’t be guaranteed.

Baluchi replied “I will continue to go,” completely ignoring the U.S. Coast Guard’s request for him to stop his trip. It wasn’t until early Saturday morning that he finally signaled the Coast Guard for help. Three days after the warning was issued he was rescued due to extreme fatigue.

The runner, who is also an activist, obtained his political asylum in 2003. He says that the goal of running is to “promote war peace.” According to Baluchi’s website, he designed the inflatable bubble and planned the mission to help raise money for children in need. The mapped out plan to achieve a successful mission while inside of the bubble was to run in the mornings, cool off at night, and to sleep in a hammock.

This is also not the first time Baulchi has attempted a mission inside of his inflatable bubble. Last year he did thirty miles from Newport Beach, California to Catalina Island and he is also well-know for participating in many charity runs.
