Prices ending in a 9. The number 9 typically means Target is selling the item at full price. Consumers have been programmed over the years to believe $9.99 is a big saving over $10, despite the small difference in price. Attracting customers to full priced items involves a bit of trickery and the 9 at the end of prices is still popular for most retail chains. If the price of an item is $19.98 or $19.94 it is more likely to be on sale.

Small Print equals Big Savings. If you look in the upper right hand corner of a price tag at Target you will often see a number. This number represents the markdown. For example the number 15 means a 50% markdown.

IMPORTANT TARGET SHOPPING TIP: Target rarely marks items down below 50%, if you wait too long you might not get that clearance item you want at rock bottom prices.
